Commodore Sales Inc. was established in 2008 in Little Rock, AR, by Michael S. McCarthy. After graduating in 1981 with an Engineering degree from Vanderbilt University (Nashville), McCarthy worked for two years as a plant engineer for Butler Manufacturing Company in Birmingham, AL. He then took an inside sales position in 1983 with a large electrical manufacturer’s representative in its office in Memphis, TN. Over the next 23 years, McCarthy held multiple positions in that firm:
- Inside Sales
- Outside Sales
- Branch Manager
- Division Vice President
This role evolution led to his relocation to Little Rock, AR, in 1995, when he took the President position.
In 2006, McCarthy retired from that firm, and started his own independent electrical manufacturers representative agency (Commodore Sale Inc.) in 2008. Because of his many established relationship in the geography, CSI is actively covering all of Arkansas, west Tennessee, north Mississippi, and Texarkana, TX. In 2013, McCarthy returned to Memphis, TN, where CSI is currently headquartered.
CSI was established to sell and support electrical products in its territory to electrical contractors and distributors in the industrial, commercial, and residential markets. McCarthy’s residence in both Little Rock and Memphis (twice) has allowed him to establish relationships with the majority of the key buying influences in this geography. Likewise, his twenty three years with his previous employer has allowed him to establish relationships industry-wide; in both the Agency and Manufacturer segments.
Because he has run a very large agency before establishing CSI, McCarthy understands the key components required for success in all buying segments of the electrical business
